Highlights
In 100 days, my brothers, father and I (Jacques, Samuel, Nathan) will be taking part in the MARATHON DES SABLES (MDS). Known as ‘the toughest footrace on Earth’ MDS is a 250 km, 7 day, self-sufficient race in the Moroccan desert. Achieving this takes dedication, resilience, patience & mental strength that we have been working on for a good part of past year.
These are qualities that were embodied by Audrey, our good friend that was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in 2020. Her fight against cancer in the last 2 years, before her tragic passing in February 2022, was a true testament of the qualities mentioned above: dedication, resilience, patience, positive attitude & mental strength. She has been a continuous source of inspiration during our training & preparation, and we are therefore dedicating our run to her, her family, and brain cancer research.
We are asking for your help, to donate to our cause & help others in need. All donations to our page (for EU : https://lnkd.in/ea6gTsny & for others : https://lnkd.in/eMerVWyn) will go towards research dedicated to finding new ways to treat rare forms of brain cancer in young adults. The page, created by Audrey’s family, has already gathered almost 40,000€, and by running the MDS we hope to get it to at least 50,000€ (as a reference point, the cost of hiring a doctoral candidate for 1 year of research in the field is around 80,000€ - still a long way to go!)
You will also be able to follow our progress during the race (April 23rd to May 1st) on the official MDS website (https://lnkd.in/e_p_kX76)
If you would like to donate, know that we as a family, along with Audrey’s husband, Olivier, & three kids, will be grateful for your help. Please leave your name when donating so we can thank you personally :)
Thank you & wish us luck ! Nathan, Sam, Simon & Jacques Team Terres d'Aventure #laforcedAudrey
Big things to come for ZIRX!
