Highlights
Hiring for cultural fit is critical for start-ups.
But culture is even more critical from the perspective of an employee joining a new company. With so many people changing jobs, this is many times an overlooked element in the job search process.
Always,❗️ALWAYS consider the culture. Not only thinking if you are a fit or if you would like to work within it, but also ✨how it might change you✨.
While some of you can/should try to influence positively the culture of a company (especially at an early stage), most often than not, the company's culture will be the one influencing you.
The experiences you have in your multiple workplaces shape your professional persona, especially earlier in your career:
⛔️ A culture with lack of accountability or one that does not give credit when credit is due can, in time, change your approach to work - proactivity, commitment, degree of input. ⛔️ A culture of fear or of micromanaging can teach you that people are not to be trusted, and that you cannot trust your own thinking without someone's prior approval. ⛔️ An unsupportive management that cares only about the what and not the how can teach you short-term thinking, bad leadership and short-sightedness.
And the examples can go on and on.
Be prepared and find out as much inside information as possible before committing to a new professional home. It will be worth it, I promise.

Email follow-ups - sales professional send them all the time.
But did you know that they can have a higher conversion rate than your very 1st email? An astonishing 33% higher conversion rate according to the below article.
I received a follow-up email this morning - a bad one that is. It started off with "I noticed that my last email may have fallen through the cracks".
No Bill, I ignored it on purpose. But thank you for making assumptions on how good I am at keeping up with my emails, job or life generally.
To avoid the above, this guide on follow-ups might help (as always though, do apply your own judgement to it): https://lnkd.in/ekkbpQbH
