Sir Nicholas Dakin, commonly known as Sir Nic Dakin, is a British Labour politician who currently serves as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Scunthorpe.12 He regained this seat in the 2024 general election, having previously held it from 2010 to 2019.14

Born on July 10, 1955, Dakin has had a varied career in education and politics.1 He studied History at the University of Hull and completed his PGCE at King's College London.15 Before entering politics, he worked as a teacher, including teaching English in Sweden and at John Leggott College in Scunthorpe, where he later became Principal.13

In his political career, Dakin has held several significant positions:
