Sirous Thampi

Founding Partner, THAMPICO LLC. We provide program/project management support and consulting services for the energy and transport sectors.

Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, Sirous Thampi graduated from the International School of Bangkok in 1997. Following graduation, he spent a year doing volunteer work for the Baha’i faith in Uganda and Cambodia. He then attended Georgetown University in Washington DC, where he received a B.S. in Foreign Service (cum laude).

Sirous went on to receive an MBA and Masters in Planning from USC in 2008, after which he spent 12 years as an analyst and consultant for large engineering consulting firms, focusing on transportation projects across the American hemisphere. Sirous’ final consulting engagement in 2018 for Dominion Energy led to a role as VP of Innovation and Program Management with REV LNG. During his time at REV LNG, the company’s dairy RNG platform grew from a handful of early stage projects to a portfolio with a capital value exceeding $1 billion.

Having accomplished his goals in the corporate world, and seeking to build a different kind of business, Sirous started THAMPICO LLC in 2020. With his core belief that business can and should be a vehicle for social impact, Sirous hopes to give back to those who haven’t had the benefit of the opportunities he has so generously been given, including the mentorship of many kind and accomplished people who have supported his journey to this point.

THAMPICO is the fulcrum of Sirous' experience, training, education, philosophy, and values. In giving the company his last name, Sirous wants to honor his lineage and always do the right thing for his clients, their communities, and the world at large.

I've heard from several recent graduates that the job market is quite challenging right now. They tell me that they are finding it very difficult to even get an interview since employers tend to favor those with more recent work experience.

While I'd love to hire some of these talented new graduates, THAMPICO doesn’t have the workload to sustain additional payroll at the moment. What I can offer instead is to review their resumes and provide feedback. Over the past four years, I’ve reviewed thousands of resumes for candidates that I have hired for my clients across various roles, including graphic design, project management, sales, operations, and more.

I’d also like to share some advice that I recently gave to a graduate I’ve been mentoring. When you get to an interview, try to avoid stating that you're just looking for a role where you can learn on the job and gain experience. Employers are looking for candidates who can deliver results from day one. If you’re asked about areas where you lack experience, it’s okay to be honest about it. Be sure to highlight how your training and transferrable skills will allow you to excel. Then, steer the conversation towards your strengths, capabilities, and interests.

Just remember, the right opportunity is out there for you, and you will find it eventually. Take it from somebody who graduated into recessions in 2002 and 2008!

Please feel free to share this post and/or extend my offer to a recent graduate who might be struggling to find a new opportunity.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Renewable Energy Advocates 🌿🌞

Last Friday, I took part in my local elementary school's career day. Speaking to two classes of bright first graders, I spoke about the importance of renewable energy.

Despite my concerns that my presentation was too complex, these young minds appeared to grasp concepts like fossil fuels, wind turbines, solar panels, and the importance of protecting our planet. 🌍

The students agreed that living next to a landfill is not ideal, so (ahem, older folks) we all need to do a better job of minimizing waste. They were very excited to hear about THAMPICO's work on projects that convert landfill gas into transport fuel. ♻️

My main takeaway? It's never too early to educate and inspire the next generation about renewable energy and environmental stewardship! 📚💡

p.s. feel free to reach out if you want a copy of my presentation!
