Highlights
This campaign generated 1 positive reply for every 18 leads enrolled into the campaign
And the average email (including personalization) contained only 32 words
It’s interesting because when it comes to passwords, fine wine or vacation time
Longer is typically better
But, when it comes to cold outreach, that’s not always the case
Our data, right now, suggest that shorter is typically better
I’m sure there are outliers and I’m sure there are people reading this right now with long emails that are crushing it
This is just what is working for our clients so take it with a grain of salt:
Our emails between 35-85 words get the highest replies
And some of our top performers include 0 “personalization”
Short and concise copy + careful segmentation + a strong offer
Are the components you need to knock it out of the park
Here is a simple framework you can model:
Hey {{firstname}},
{{Relevant Icebreaker}}: Tell the reader why you are reaching out to them in specific. It works best if your icebreaker clearly connects with your offer and is not just a random personalized line
{{Offer}}: Explain your offer/ lead magnet
{{Call to action}}: Ask if your prospect wants to discuss/ receive your lead magnet
We used this exact framework for the campaign featured in the image below
We pitched a lead magnet that demonstrated the value of the product
No “selling” happened in the email, only offering the lead magnet
When the lead asked for the lead magnet, we attempted to call the lead within 5 minutes
And if no answer, we sent an email with the lead magnet and further clarification on how the product would help them solve a problem we know they’re experiencing
Curious, what length email are you seeing work best right now?

I may never write a cold email again
I automated the entire process
From conducting research to generating a complete personalized email
Here are the steps:
1️⃣ Built list of Company LI profiles from SalesNav 2️⃣ Used Clay's chrome extension to pull it into a table 3️⃣ Fed the data into OpenAI to verify the companies fit our criteria 4️⃣ Automated a Google search to find info that indicates a need (only runs for companies that are a fit) 5️⃣ Scraped Google search results scraped and fed it into OpenAI to summarize 6️⃣ Found contact information for relevant titles using a waterfall enrichment with Apollo.io, Findymail, Datagma, Hunter.io 7️⃣ Validated emails using NeverBounce & DeBounce 8️⃣ Generated fully personalized emails for each prospect based on their role within the company and the Google results (only runs for valid emails)
