Skylar Swinford is an accomplished professional in the field of Passivhaus and low-energy building consulting with expertise in thermal bridging analysis, hygrothermal analysis, thermal human comfort analysis, and heat, air, and moisture management detailing.

Skylar specializes in building energy monitoring and instrumentation, field testing, and verification including building air-tightness testing, infrared thermography, ventilation system testing, duct tightness testing, airflow, and zonal pressure testing.

Proficient in using various building science software for tasks such as building energy simulation and modeling with tools like Passive House Planning Package (PHPP), Fraunhofer IBP WUFI PASSIV, Fraunhofer IBP WUFI PLUS, and more.

Skylar's skills extend to hygrothermal analysis utilizing software like Fraunhofer IBP WUFI PRO, thermal bridge calculation, and window simulation using LBNL THERM and LBNL WINDOW, and building airtightness testing software including TECTITE and TECTITE Express.

Experienced in solar site shading analysis software such as Solar Pathfinder Assistant, Skylar also has expertise in HVAC and renewable energy systems for ultra-low load buildings, including heat and energy recovery ventilation (HRV/ERV) systems, and various heat pump configurations.

Skylar Swinford holds a B.A. in Environmental Science, Economics, and Geography from Willamette University and has undergone additional studies at MDHS.

Skylar has held key positions in reputable organizations, currently serving as a Building Energy and Enclosure Consultant at Energy Systems Consultants. Previously, Skylar was a Resident Futurist at Energyseal Air Barrier Systems and held roles as Building Energy Analyst and Passive House Consultant at Hammer And Hand, Inc.
