Sophia Arkoudis, a distinguished Professor in higher education and the Associate Director of the Melbourne Centre for the Study in Higher Education at the University of Melbourne, has significantly contributed to the field of higher education through her extensive research and leadership roles.

Additionally, she played a pivotal role in the development of the Good Practice Principles for English Language Proficiency for International Students in Higher Education under the DEEWR Steering Committee.

With a wealth of publications in the field of English language education, Sophie Arkoudis is a renowned figure in academia, having delivered keynote addresses both nationally and internationally on crucial topics like language and disciplinary teaching, English language standards, international students in higher education, and English language development.

Furthermore, Arkoudis has supervised and guided 20 research students to successful completion, including a dozen doctoral candidates, showcasing her dedication to nurturing the next generation of scholars in higher education.
