Last night, I attended a ClickUp Secret Supper. Picture this: 30 people, one table, coursed meal. Sounds intense, right?

Surprisingly, it wasn't.

I've been to several networking events, but this one stood out from the crowd.

Here's why this wasn't your typical mixer:

✨ Productivity Nerds Unite: Everyone there spoke my language. Finally, a place where getting excited about workflow optimizations was the norm, not the exception. ✨ Open-Source Leadership: Attendees, some in high-level positions, freely shared insights. We weren't just talking ClickUp features; we were diving into real leadership challenges and solutions. ✨ Deep Dive Q&A: This wasn't a surface-level product showcase. I had the chance to ask specific, nitty-gritty questions about implementing ClickUp in my organization... and I asked A LOT of questions.

The ClickUp team (Rhea Faroon, Arianna Young, Nick Birlingmair, Jason D.) matched my enthusiasm question for question. Their excitement to teach and problem-solve was contagious, turning individual queries into group learning experiences.

The result?

I practically sprinted to my desk this morning, fired up to build a demo ecosystem for our project management office. It's like all the puzzle pieces finally clicked (pun intended).

This experience reminded me of something crucial: When you find your tribe - be it in productivity tools or any other niche - 'networking' stops feeling like work.

🤔 How can we create more spaces where deep, meaningful professional connections can flourish?

"Thanks for your hard work"

Is this really enough?

In a world where many feel unrecognized at work, I witnessed something powerful last week:

My colleague provided clear, data-based praise to his team after an incredibly taxing back-to-school period.

His response when I commended him?

"I honestly don't know how people work together without acknowledging the team effort it takes to be successful anywhere."

This moment was a prime example of impactful leadership:

🙏 The power of specificity: Generic "thanks" doesn't cut it. Detailed, data-driven praise shows you're paying attention.

⏰ Timeliness matters: Immediate recognition after a challenging period reinforces the value of the team's efforts.

✨ Recognition as a collaboration tool: Acknowledging team effort fosters a culture of mutual support and appreciation.

It's a stark contrast to the vague "thanks for your hard work" many of us are used to. While that might make bosses feel good, it often falls flat for those doing the work.

This interaction reinforced a crucial point: Specific, timely praise isn't just nice—it's a powerful, free tool for building stronger, more engaged teams.

And speaking of specific praise: Robert Cireddu, thank you for being such an inspiring example of effective leadership. Your approach to team recognition is making a real difference, not just to your direct reports, but to observers like me who are learning from your example.

I've been focusing on improving my feedback skills, inspired by concepts from Kim Scott's Radical Candor®.

❓ Do you have any resources or experiences to share about providing effective feedback and praise?
