🚨Do you own your nfts or are you just licensing from the creator? 🚨
🕵️♀️I’ve thought about this for a while and so glad that someone’s done the investigative work.
This article from Galaxy says that nft holders of the top collections such as #BAYC and #Dodes are just licensing from the creators and that creators can at any time without notice change the license agreements. 😱
We saw it happen with #moonbirds moving their IP to public domain (essentially squashing commercial rights for holders). We saw it with Meebits royalty changing from 0% to 5% after Yuga Labs purchased the collection from Larva Labs.
But this isn’t even as problematic as collections outright misleading holders that “owners have complete ownership of their nfts” while contracting this in their terms and services. 🤯 that’s outright lying.
Murky times. We need more IP rights in Web3.
Last month, I graduated from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. I still can’t believe that I got to spend time with and learn from so many amazing people. This experience really made me believe that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. I remember the day I stepped into my 4th grade class (wearing a pikachu shirt), not knowing a word of English. 20 years later, I’m feeling extremely proud of myself and grateful for the people that helped me become who I am. #firstgen
Gaming has been a huge part of my life. It’s how I first learned English (thank you Flyff). It’s where I learned valuable lessons like teamwork, grit and communication. It’s what I’m doing most weekday nights (who’s playing Stray?). It’s why I’m super pumped to work at the intersection of gaming and web3 at Manticore Games Inc. as a senior product manager (we’re hiring across marketing, bd, pm, art, eng).
Can’t wait! GLHF 😀
