Highlights
I’m thrilled to welcome the Maritime Group to the MSC group of companies!
This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter as we expand our footprint in the UK, coupling the wealth of knowledge within Maritime with the expertise of MEDLOG.
Maritime will continue to operate under the 'Maritime' brand, with the same management team, and with the same commitment to excellence that you’ve come to expect.
A special thanks to John Williams and the entire Maritime Transport Ltd team for their continued leadership and dedication. We look forward to our future growth and success together.
July marks that we are halfway through the year, and it’s that time when hopefully you all have time to unwind and enjoy some quality moments with family and friends.
July also means we can look back at the first half of 2024, and I wish to reflect on our progress.
The market has been dynamic, with the Red Sea closure forcing us to reroute ships around the Cape of Good Hope, creating supply chain challenges.
Despite this, our investments have ensured regular capacity and sailings, meeting client needs in turbulent times. We’ve seen strong demand from Asia and the Indian subcontinent, with steady GDP growth in the US.
We successfully closed the 50% acquisition of Italo, adding a new dimension to transportation in our group. We also completed the acquisition of AlisCargo Airlines – now MSC Air Cargo – propelling us into a full-fledged airline.
Sustainability remains central to our strategy. Our 2023 Sustainability Report highlights progress in decarbonization with over 100 dual-fuel ships on order. Our biofuel initiatives are reducing emissions and costs, meeting client demands.
We’re also proud of our efforts in inclusive trade and addressing social challenges. Our donation to the Mercy Ships Foundation – adding a brand-new hospital ship to their fleet – exemplifies our commitment to positive impact and our values as a family-oriented company.
Thank you to our 200,000 family members for making this possible! Have a great summer.
