Sougwen 愫君 Chung is a Chinese-Canadian artist and researcher known for exploring human-machine collaboration through the lens of mark-making by hand and by machine.

Chung is the founder and artistic director of Scilicet, an experimental studio focused on human & non-human collaboration.

They have exhibited their work internationally at renowned institutions like the Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Vancouver Art Gallery, Art Basel, National Art Center Tokyo, and the MIT Media Lab, among others.

Chung's work has been featured in numerous prestigious publications including Forbes, Wired, The New Yorker, and Fast Company.

As a former TED Speaker, Chung has spoken at various international conferences such as SIGGRAPH Conference, Cannes Lions, and SXSW.

Recognized for their contributions to the arts and sciences, Chung has received prestigious awards including the Lumen Prize for Art in Technology and the Japan Media Arts Excellence Award for Drawing Operations.

They have held artist in residence positions at Google, New Museum, Bell Labs, and Autodesk, among others.

Chung's educational background includes a B.F.A. from Indiana University Bloomington, an MA in Interactive Art from Hyper Island, and a research fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Having a rich professional experience, Chung has held roles such as Art Director at Hi-ReS!, Senior Art Director at The Mill, and Innovator in Residence at Autodesk.
