Dr. Acharya is highly regarded as the founder Graduate Program Director of the Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design at Johns Hopkins University, where he focuses on medical device design and entrepreneurship, particularly in creating affordable healthcare solutions for global health challenges.

His innovative research has led to the development of various technologies addressing maternal and neonatal health, infectious diseases, primary care, and non-communicable diseases in developing nations, many of which have received funding from renowned organizations like USAID and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
