Highlights
Please join Sangha Renewables on the night of February 29 at the law offices of Thompson Hine for our screening of STRANDED, a 17 minute documentary by amazing Puerto Rico based filmmaker and entrepreneur Alana Mediavilla.
Globally, there are 755 million people without electricity and the development of micro / mini grids often using cascading hydro power can be the solution to provide power to the previously unpowered. With power for health care providers, refrigeration, and home cooking, the impact can be massive. However, often villages in remote locations do not have enough of a power demand to create sufficient economic incentives for governments to build the micro grids. The lack of demand makes infrastructure inefficient if there is not enough demand from the consumer side of the equation. Bitcoin mining and its inherent flexibility is the elegant solution. STRANDED begins to tell this story.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion that connects what’s happening in African grids with our domestic electric transmission system. Bitcoin offers a real global solution.

#renewableenergy asset owners are facing a variety of tailwinds and headwinds at the same time. On the one hand, the #inflationreductionact is creating attractive price signals for the development of more projects, but on the other, more renewables on the grid can lead to greater pricing volatility and the need for deeper curtailments of generation.
In order to optimize for both - matching headwind and tailwind, supply and demand - Sangha Systems, following the sale of its facility in Hennepin, Illinois, has begun working with developers and owners of #solar #wind and other renewable generation sources to assist them in directly becoming #bitcoinminers themselves, rather than selling energy to a third party miner.
Attached is a thought-piece we put together explaining our view on the direction of these markets and how Sangha can help to capture surplus value on behalf of #renewables companies with underperforming assets.
