Sri Kalyanaraman

Sri Kalyanaraman is a professor at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications (UFCJC) and the Director of the Media Effects and Technology Lab (METL).1 He joined UFCJC in 2014 as part of the University's preeminent scholar program.1 Kalyanaraman's primary research focuses on the psychology of new technologies, particularly as they inform persuasion and attitude change in online environments.1

In 2017, Kalyanaraman launched the Media Effects and Technology Lab, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to investigating human-technology interactions across multiple platforms, with a focus on virtual reality (VR) and other immersive technologies.1 He is also the co-founder of UF's Virtual Reality for Social Good program.13

Kalyanaraman holds a Ph.D. from Penn State University and previously served as a faculty member at the University of North Carolina's Hussman School of Journalism and Media.12 He has received numerous awards, including the 2011 AEJMC Hillier-Krieghbaum Mid-Career Award for outstanding achievement in teaching, research, and public service.12

As of January 2025, Kalyanaraman has transitioned to a new role as the Senior Associate Dean for Research at Michigan State University's College of Communication Arts and Sciences, which he began in August 2024.145
