His contributions extend to roles such as Senior Advisor at Markle Foundation, Chief of Research at Markle Foundation, and UNESCO Chair in Comparative Communications and Information Law.

Additionally, he has served as an Adjunct Professor at institutions like The GovLab at NYU and The London School of Economics and Political Science. Dr. Verhulst's research endeavors include being a Former Co-Founder and Director at the University of Oxford and a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow.
