I see everyone sharing Apple ‘s captivating #sustainability report starring the also captivating Octavia Spencer.
In the course of my work, I’ve had big companies like Apple tell me they would rather use a word like “sustainability” to—I’m guessing— “politely” describe their #RacialJustice goals because even #DEI is too scary. The point being: leaderships balks at antiracism but sustainability is a concept everyone can get behind. As a result, when I see a sustainability report now, I want to know how an organization is moving towards racial #equity, #inclusion, #diversity, and #justice goals.
Two things can be true at the same time: we can want to take care of our planet AND we absolutely have to take care of people, especially the most marginalized, systemically oppressed people among us. If Octavia Spencer reprised her role to deliver that kind of #SustainabilityReport, that would be something worth noting.
