Awesome session at Institute for Supply Management with Patrick Marlow from Google introducing procurement and supply chain leaders to the possibilities and easy access to Gen AI and RAG. The sold out session shows the high level of interest from practitioners to understand how to best leverage the power of AI in their organization. It was fascinating to hear the rapid advancement of technologies and tools that allows non tech users to build applications that can drive a tone of efficiencies in automating day to day tasks that traditionally requires manpower and expensive resources. Patrick built an application using #gemini in real-time that could be easily translated to our function.
An important question arised from the audience…. How long can we expect before getting started and see the benefits.
Patrick responded that it highly depends on data posture (aka. Data quality and hygiene), which he recognizes from spending time with us that it is a potential real problem and blocker (silo, incomplete and static data living in many places across the organization). Getting data posture is the starting point:-)
