Exploring the role of private capital in building the health of systems rather than monetizing the symptoms of unhealthy systems.

Stephen Hohenrieder is the CEO of Grounded Capital, a company he founded to invest private equity capital in strategies focused on enhancing human, ecological, and financial systems' health.

Motivated by the prevalence of investing in symptomatic solutions rather than problem-solving, Stephen embarked on this mission in 2007, aiming to address the root causes of issues.

Having noticed a common reliance on simplistic, technological solutions by investors leading to unintended consequences, Stephen delved into exploring the impact of private capital on systemic health for over 13 years before establishing Grounded Capital.

Grounded Capital channels private equity investments into various sectors such as food companies, processing, agriculture, forests, energy, and real estate, utilizing a holistic framework to drive sustainable growth and positive outcomes.

With a Bachelor's Degree in Agribusiness from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, Stephen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as CEO.

Beyond his current position, Stephen has held diverse roles in organizations ranging from CEO, founder, board member, to strategic advisor, showcasing his broad expertise and leadership across multiple industries.

He has been associated with notable organizations like Lotus Foods, Straus Family Creamery, and Gaia Herbs, among others, contributing his strategic insights and guidance.

As the head of Grounded Capital, an SEC-registered investment advisor managing around $2 billion in assets, Stephen focuses on fostering a comprehensive approach to investment to drive positive change and sustainable impact.
