Highlights
Second #propspost in this series but second to no one, John Blanco-Slingerland is 1 of 1. I worked with John at Cisco AppDynamics before the pandemic where we connected on design, music, family, and generally all the things. He is genuine, kind, with incredible taste and the ability to create safe creative spaces for his colleagues. Initially, he struck me as a standout designer but it wasn't long before I realized what a leader he is. He eventually moved on from AppDynamics to people leadership at One Medical where he found his true calling as a career coach for product development practitioners with ADHD.
John personally struggled with ADHD and couldn't find a career coach who understood the nuances of neurodivergence in high-stress product design settings. What do awesome people do when they see a problem? They fix it. Now John is that coach.
So whether it’s learning to advocate for yourself, or supporting someone on your team as a neurodiverse ally, John is here to help you. If you are a designer (or researcher or PM) with ADHD and you want to take the next step in your career, connect with him today!
Trying something new because I LOVE making referrals, LOVE introducing people, need to spread some positivity, and want to extoll the virtues of former colleagues looking for their next opportunity.
The first person I want to highlight is my colleague and friend, Tobin Howard. Tobin was a stalwart member of our team at NFL Digital. He was one of the first people I met at the NFL; a welcome, friendly face with great stories and talent to match. He provided sage and highly collaborative partnership during inevitable growing pains as the org evolved under new product leadership. In the 2 years I was there, Tobin contributed to our flagship NFL.com redesign and the latest design system while shoring up our ad display strategy.
This is a small sliver of his myriad achievements across a long, incredibly diverse career designing incredible experiences in sports media (NFL, FIFA), pharma (Eli Lilly, Merck), retail (Victoria’s Secret, Best Buy) and even weather (Accuweather). He's been a leader, he's been an IC, and he makes everyone around him better. Best of all, he's available to tackle your next big design problem!
