Look what came in the mail today. . .

After an intense and amazing 5-year adventure of training and practice, received the full license for Mental Health Counseling in TN (LPC-MHSP).

The steps to get there: Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling, 3000 supervised clinical hours (1500 hours of which are working directly with psychotherapy clients including individuals, couples, and groups), and 200 hours of training with a licensed counselor/supervisor.

What it means: I can now practice and diagnose independently.

Many of you have been with me on this wild ride, so I wanted to share the moment. I couldn’t have asked for a more deeply rewarding side hustle and am so grateful - especially for the support and trust of the inspiring bosses, leaders, mentors, and colleagues I’ve learned from on both sides of this career journey - that means you Matt Lynch, Kelly Garst, Duarte Rodrigo Mendonça, Patricia Carl, Jane Price, PHR, Anne Robinson, Traci Dunn, Nancy Sherman, Lori Russell-Chapin, Paul Babb, Carla Babb, Gabe Drapos, and Michael Kopko, among others who know who they are.

The funny thing is, I started out wanting to be a therapist instead of a recruiter, and ended up as an HR leader AND a Therapist - both of which I truly enjoy, to my surprise. Would not have happened without the experience gained through both career tracks. So, the takeaways are: 1. training in a passion ignites everything else in life too, and 2. there are way more hours in the day than we think.
