One third of start-ups fail because of ‘no market need’ - Tips from the coalface

Everybody knows that technology start-ups are risky. CB Insights regularly do surveys which shows that one of the most common reasons for failure is nobody wanting to buy the product; some 30% – 40% of the start-ups they analyzed failed because of an inability to match the product to the market.

Arguably this means you should you spend at least as much time researching your markets as developing your products. But the ‘Market Need’ failure category is broad and potentially covers everything from, ‘it was a chocolate teapot’, to ‘it was sliced bread, but we forgot to tell anybody about it’.

This article describe some things we at Q5D have been doing to avoid this particular pitfall. But we are really interested in your tips and tricks, please share. #startup #strategicmarketing #marketfit #venturecapital #wiringharness
