Chief Visionary and Identity Leader at PRATYeK|NINEISMINE

Steve Rocha, a former Christian Brother for 35 years, is a child rights advocate with over three decades of experience.

He is the Founder-Director and Vision and Identity Leader of PRATYeK, an organization dedicated to empowering children to advocate for their rights.

Steve is the National Convener and founder of NINEISMINE, an advocacy initiative focused on securing public investment in children.

Steve's leadership led to the establishment of the first National Inclusive Children's Parliament in the National Parliament, with the Vice President of India presiding over the session.

His advocacy efforts have resulted in significant policy changes, including the allocation of 6% and 3% of the GDP for Education and Health, influencing national policies and political party agendas.

Additionally, Steve serves as the Asia level Advocacy Coordinator for Edmund Rice International in Geneva, facilitating child-led interactions with policymakers at various levels, including the United Nations in Geneva and New York.

He also contributes to the International Child Safeguarding Committee of the Good Shepherd Sisters and is a National Steering Committee member of India's civil society coalition for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals known as Wada Na Todo Abhiyan.

Steve holds a Master's degree in Social Work from the College of Social Work, Nirmala Niketan Institute, Mumbai, and Bachelor's degrees in Geography Hons. from St. Edmund's College, Shillong, and Political Science and Government from Our Lady of Salvation High School Dadar.
