Steven Gray is an accomplished food safety expert with a strong background in overseeing and directing food safety functions, initiatives, and personnel. He excels in areas such as regulatory compliance, food safety practices, validation studies, hazard control, and program management. With his expertise, Steven has been instrumental in designing and implementing food safety policies and procedures. He possesses excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

In his role as the Director of FSQA - Innovation and Technology at CLIF Bar, Steven managed a team of Food Safety Product Managers. This team was responsible for launching new products and packaging, expanding to new markets, implementing formula revisions for cost savings, and ensuring manufacturing stability while meeting food safety and compliance requirements. Notable achievements include successfully launching new products, optimizing formulas, redesigning packaging, and overseeing new manufacturing facility projects.

Steven provided technical direction on important aspects such as micro protection, Environmental Monitoring Programs, validation studies, allergen controls, labeling for gluten-free claims, compliance with domestic and international regulations, and certification compliance for organic products. He also played a key role in developing and managing complete GFSI compliant Food Safety Quality Systems policies and procedures at CLIF Bar.

Previously, Steven led a team of Ingredient Managers at CLIF Bar, focusing on the food safety of ingredients and suppliers for all products. Through initiatives like standardized ingredient specifications, micro testing programs, validation studies, foreign material prevention projects, and allergen control programs, he effectively drove risk reduction. Steven also instigated an internal program for gluten-free, soy-free, and milk-free products. His emphasis on supplier performance management included onsite assessments, third party audits, and data trending to ensure quality standards were met.

In his academic journey, Steven studied Agricultural Science and Management for his Bachelor's degree at the University of California, Davis. Throughout his career, his roles included Director of Operations and Director of FSQA at Sugar Bowl Bakery, QA Manager at Amy's Kitchen, Ingredient Manager at General Mills, and Supplier Quality Assurance at The Pillsbury Company.
