Schwab earned his Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College (1972-1975), followed by a Doctor of Law (JD) magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from the University of Michigan.1 Before joining Cornell, he clerked for Judge J. Dickson Phillips, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Justice Sandra Day O'Connor of the United States Supreme Court.2
