❇ Presenting Exhibit A on misinformation, propaganda, and disinformation about India, its people, its constitution, and its politics. ⚠ A journalist of Australian Bull$hit Corporation (ABC) presents her thoughts on India and its recent elections. Every line she says is either misinformation or propaganda. Let me break it down:
- India was founded in 1947: WRONG. India has existed for thousands of years.
- When it was founded, its constitution said it was secular: WRONG. The terms "secular" and "socialist" were inserted into the Preamble by the 42nd Amendment of the Constitution in 1976 by late PM Indira Gandhi after declaring a state of emergency and dissolving all constitutional powers of the opposition, the media, and the judiciary. This is what a dictator really does. If a dictator is in power today, he is perhaps the softest and worst dictator ever!
- RSS wants India to become a supreme Hindu state: WRONG. It wants equal rights for Hindu citizens as they are afforded to other citizens. For example, Hindu temples remain under state control and pay taxes on all revenue. However, other faiths are exempt from this type of tax.
- A belief referred to as Hindutva: WRONG. Hindutva is made up of two words. Hindu+Tattva = Hindutva = Essence/Root of Hinduism. Because Sanskrit does not use the anglicized "ism" to describe religion/faith/spirituality. There is no "ism" in Sanskrit. Tattva is a Sanskrit term meaning “principle” or “reality.” It was developed as early as 2000 B.C.E. and was later reintroduced by Kapila, a sage belonging to the Vedic era, during the 700s B.C.E. 👉 The key takeaway here is to do your own research or ask someone who actually knows and not to believe two-penny worth Western journalists who look Indian and that is why were perhaps given the brief to spread the propaganda of the Australian, Canadian, or British Bull$hit Corporations!

This weekend in the #decolonization of Indian history series, here is a discussion on the role of the freedom fighters a.k.a. revolutionaries in the independence war from the British Raj and Mughal atrocities. The sad part is that even after independence, our history textbooks and media narratives were never changed to acknowledge the supreme sacrifices of these revolutionaries. The whitewashed, glorified narrative was that one man armed with a lathi supported by two women at all times somehow won us freedom. It is time to re-write Indian history from an indigenous perspective - one that is truly rooted in reality and recognizes the grassroots struggle for freedom. It will act as a truth and reconciliation mechanism that is really needed. https://lnkd.in/e2azh4k9 Thank you for such an intriguing discussion Sanjeev Sanyal, Dr Vikram Sampath, FRHistS, and the indomitable Professor Anand Ranganathan 🙏🏼
