Sue Welland

Ecopreneur

Sue Welland had an early career in national and global advertising and integrated communications for corporations and agencies. In 1997, she co-founded The CarbonNeutral Company, the world's first carbon trading organization for businesses and consumers. She successfully developed the company through multiple VC fundraising rounds, establishing it as a global market leader. In 2009, Sue left day-to-day operations to co-found HomeSun, a business that focused on leveraging the government's Feed-in Tariff to propel Free Solar into the UK market. This venture led to the creation of the largest residential solar portfolio in Europe, which was eventually sold to Aviva in 2012. Sue continued with her executive team to establish HomeSun Commercial and FlowGem, both of which were successfully sold in 2014 and 2016 respectively. Known for her expertise in innovation, brand and market building, commercial partnerships, carbon trading, customer service, and PR, Sue is currently exploring new opportunities in research mode.
