Sultan Sharrief is an independent filmmaker turned Media Scientist specializing in social entrepreneurship and civic design.
He currently serves as the Event Designer for the MIT Reality Hack, one of the largest XR Hackathons held at the MIT Media Lab.
With 14 years of experience running a media company, Sultan returned to school to pursue a Masters at MIT and established The Quasar Lab, where he leads a team developing new media and technology tools for social impact.
His expertise spans writing, strategic planning, film consulting, producing, and even ice sculpting.
Sultan holds a PhD in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management from the University of Southern California, an MS in Comparative Media from MIT, and a BA in Film and Video Studies from the University of Michigan.
His past roles include Chief Investigator at The Quasar Lab, Creator and Showrunner at Street Cred Detroit, Creative Director at Beyond Blue Productions, and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Michigan, among others.
