Highlights
Early-stage startups are raising bigger rounds – but there’s more to it than meets the eye.
Today’s median early-stage startup raises $2.2M, up from $1.5M in 2020.
One reason founders are raising more: The extra cash helps mitigate uncertainty surrounding their next round.
New data from Carta shows:
-Significantly fewer startups are graduating from seed to Series A in 2 years. In 2020, this was as high as 40% of startups; today just 15% raise in that timespan.
-The median seed-stage startup now spends ~200 days longer between primary financings (priced seed to Series A) than they did in 2019.
At Kyber Knight Capital, we’re here to help founders navigate these challenging times. In this fast-evolving fundraising environment, it’s critical to focus on business fundamentals and prepare your startup for longer runways.
