Highlights
The art market remains robust and recession-proof! In the first 6 months of 2022, 93% of collectors (surveyed by UBS) bought art through a gallery or dealer. This was one of my favorite Art Basels! I put in miles across 8 art fairs (Untitled Art, Art Basel, Design Miami/, Aqua Art, NADA, Art Miami, Context Art and Scope), exhibitions and announcements in Miami. Some highlights,
- Met the first female Mayor of Miami-Dade County, Daniella Levine Cava at a Florida family office conference; 🎨 Toured the fairs with a number of UBS private wealth advisors, private and commercial clients to discuss wealth preservation, growth and collection management; 👾 NFT NEWS: Attended Andreessen Horowitz Cultural Leadership Fund's (a16zCLF) preview and announcement of their purchase of digital art BY Black creators;
- Attended Cafe 11's inaugural event for token holders (Cafe 11 is a partnership between the Friends With Benefits decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) and the legacy cognac brand Hennessy. The token gives access to on and offline events at the intersection of spirits, technology and culture. ⚽ Caught an Argentina win at Novecento, an Argentinian restaurant in Brickell #art #dao #contemporaryart #artmarket #a16zCLF #a16z #HNW
Beyond honored to receive University of California, Berkeley's Cal Athletics' Cub of the Year award for my volunteerism, innovation and leadership. It was so nice to be back at Memorial Stadium to receive this award, but even better to be working closely with Cal Athletics on the strategy for Black lives.
This award is really to all of the Berkeley Changemakers ™️, https://lnkd.in/e_8Hf94x. Since May 2020 I re-connected with the University and have met so many wonderful Cal students, alumni, employees and staff. Although I am based on the East coast everyone made themselves available through Zoom, Slack and GoogleMeet! Returning to my Berkeley community did more for me than I expected.
June 2020, Black Lives After College (BLAC) https://lnkd.in/ehjin5Wh was formed by former Black athletes, alumni and supporters from Cal working to improve the achievements of Black athletes by serving as a critical resource as we work to establish a more inclusive and equitable system. Our biggest highlight was we drafted a 10 point model of success for Black college athletes and to this day we use it as a powerful template for our discussions across the University and beyond!
To CAL’S BLACK ALUM: there will be alumni events throughout the United States. Please make sure you receive the new Black alumni newsletter here, https://lnkd.in/eS-pTXAw.
TO ALL: If your company is hiring please let The Cameron Institute or myself know as Cal Athletics has a separate portal just for student-athletes and former athletes called The Golden Bear Network, https://lnkd.in/eSePHmei! Email, [email protected]
At the luncheon I met Mr. Calvin Woods, class of ’57. I asked his major and he said at first it was music, but that was too hard so he studied physics. He then had me guess his age and he said he’s the same age as the number of keys on a piano! :) (Leave this answer in the comments!) GoBears! #ucberkeley #CalAthletics #BerkeleyChangemakers
