Susan Darlington is the current president of Deep Springs College in eastern California, with a rich background in academia focused on environmental anthropology, Buddhist studies, and Thai studies.

Before assuming her role as president, Susan Darlington dedicated 30 years to teaching at Hampshire College, where she also served as a Professor of Anthropology and Asian Studies.

Her research and teaching endeavors primarily revolve around the dynamic interactions between individuals and their surroundings, emphasizing social justice concerns.

One of Susan Darlington's current projects delves into the environmental conservation initiatives led by Buddhist monks in Thailand, aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by rural farmers.

Susan Darlington pursued her education diligently, achieving a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and History from Wellesley College, followed by postgraduate studies culminating in a MA and PhD in Anthropology from the University of Michigan.
