Susan Hassan is an experienced financial services executive, investor, and strategic advisor. She is the Founder and Managing Partner of Sea Dune Partners, where she invests in and provides strategic advice to innovative early-stage companies.3

Hassan is known for her expertise in navigating complex business challenges, leading and executing strategic transactions, and addressing complex corporate governance and regulatory matters. She combines deep transactional M&A expertise with extensive private equity and venture capital investment experience.1

Prior to founding Sea Dune Partners, Hassan was a partner at Valor Equity Partners, a private equity firm managing over $4 billion, focusing on tech-enabled growth companies such as SpaceX, Addepar, and Brightloom.1 At Valor, she was responsible for managing the firm's operations, including regulatory and legal compliance, investment analysis, structuring and execution, client services, and firm marketing. She also served on Valor's Investment Committee and as the firm's Chief Compliance Officer.2

Before her time at Valor, Hassan had a nearly 20-year career as a corporate partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. There, she specialized in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and strategic advice for a diverse range of clients, including Fortune 500, middle-market, and emerging growth companies. Some of her notable clients included CME Group, Sara Lee Corporation, and Amicus Therapeutics.1

Hassan has served as an invited lecturer on corporate transactions at Harvard Law School and the University of Chicago Law School. In 2009, she was named a Henry Crown Fellow by the Aspen Institute and is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.1

Hassan is also actively involved in philanthropic and non-profit work. She currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of CARE, one of the world's largest and oldest poverty relief organizations. In the past, she has held leadership positions on the boards of various organizations, including Equality Now, The Clean Energy Trust, the Women's Sports Foundation, and the Chicago Public Library.3

Susan Hassan received her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Michigan. She is also fluent in Arabic.1
