Susan Morrice

Susan Morrice is a geologist, explorer, and entrepreneur born in 1952. She received a degree in geology from Trinity College Dublin and is known for being the first person to discover oil in commercial quantities in Belize. She is one of the founding members of Belize Natural Energy (BNE).3
As the Co-Founder and Chair of Belize Natural Energy, Morrice has played a crucial role in establishing the company as a significant player in Belize's oil industry. BNE has become a global oil industry beacon that has made a real difference in Belize. Through her expertise in exploration and understanding of human potential, Morrice was able to find oil where major oil companies believed there was none. Under her leadership, BNE has celebrated over ten years of production, producing more than ten million barrels of oil, and has become the number one revenue generator in the country.12
In addition to her work with BNE, Morrice has had a diverse career in the energy sector. She started her own company, S. Morrice and Associates, LLC, in 1982. In the early 1990s, she co-led the international convention of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), which led to the creation of the International Pavilion. This platform allows oil companies to access new contracts in different countries. In the mid-2000s, Morrice also founded XJet Worldwide.3
Morrice has received numerous awards and recognition for her contributions to the geoscience profession and the energy industry. These include the "AAPG Presidential Award for Exemplary Service," Denver Business Journal's "Top Women in Energy," and CoBiz Magazine's "Top Women Owned Companies."2
