Sylvia Arifin is the Head of People Operations at Octant, where she is responsible for fostering a healthy and high-performing team environment. She has over 15 years of experience in human resources, focusing on areas such as talent acquisition, employee relations, culture building, and learning and development.
Before joining Octant in 2022, Sylvia was the first HR hire at Invitae, where she played a crucial role in scaling the People team during the organization's rapid growth. Her responsibilities included developing compensation and benefits programs, enhancing employee experience, and overseeing talent acquisition and M&A integration. Additionally, she served as the head of HR at Carnegie Mellon University's Silicon Valley campus, supporting engineering faculty and researchers at NASA Ames.
Sylvia holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from the University of California, Davis, with concentrations in Strategy and Organizational Behavior.1234
