I recently enjoyed attending the All Tech Is Human event in London just after completing a 10-Day Silent Meditation Retreat. More about the retreat later. :) Two great panels centered around what a healthy, responsible tech future looks like for our youth. One of the most impressive and inspiring panelists I listened to was Youth Ambassador to the Children’s Commissioner for England, Maximilian Milovidov. During the panel he shared with unwavering confidence and a clear message to technologists of today, “We (youth) may be 20% of the population today, but we are 100% of the future.” His thoughtful answers and insight made it even clearer to me how important it is to have our youth actively engaged at product design tables. The conversations I had with Donnie Maclurcan, Dr. June Brawner and Areeq Chowdhury, were both encouraging and reflective. Donnie and I engaged in a conversation about what effective collaboration truly means and what does it take to create the space for it to happen. I learned a lot from Dr June Brawner who shared some details about her role as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Royal Society. Areeq gave a fantastic overview about the Royal Society, recent accomplishments and publications as well as upcoming think tank subjects.
I’m looking forward to further discussions and well orchestrated actions with these people and organizations. And finally, after a meaningful conversation about ATIH’s direction with Founder, David Ryan Polgar, I’m eager to embrace opportunities to assist in ATIH’s expansion into London in the upcoming months. Another great event of networking, learning and inspiration.
FrauenLoop is a Berlin-based non-profit founded by Dr. Nakeema Stefflbauer, EMBA that aims to broaden the diversity of qualified women entering jobs in tech. The program not only trains, but activates the potential in women from various backgrounds, including resident, immigrant, non-science, and refugee status, in preparation for careers in tech. I was honored to be invited to join a cohort recently to put on a workshop on navigating these uncertain times and improving one's marketability. I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing the drive, determination, and insightful questions we discussed. I'm still moved by the extraordinary stories and experiences shared, stories and experiences that are critical to weave into tech's evolution, especially AI.
