As my appointment to the History Colorado Board of Directors comes to a close, I want to take a moment to thank both Senator John Hickenlooper (then Governor Hickenlooper) and Governor Jared Polis for entrusting me to serve this important Colorado institution. It has been truly an honor to play a role for the keeper of Colorado’s memories, and to tell the stories of all Coloradans. I was also deeply honored and humbled to be recognized, alongside my friend and Board peer Cathey McClain Finlon for our service as Chairs of the Board during some of the most critical moments in History Colorado’s recent past, with the naming of the Board Room in our honor. It has been a joy to serve you, History Colorado. You will always be in my heart, and I am so proud of all you do.

Proud moment! Macy just returned from a semester in Washington, D.C. where she served as a Page in the United States Senate. She was one of 30 students from across the country to have this experience which included living with roommates in a dorm, school each day at 6:15 am, and a full day of work on the Senate floor. She witnessed history unfold by being present for key votes on policy that impacts us all, broadened her knowledge on how our government operates, opened her mind by learning from others who have a different life experience, and made friends who will last a lifetime. Deep thanks to the Page School and the Page Program, both of which are exemplary. And deep gratitude to Senator Michael Bennet for providing an opportunity for students to apply for this amazing program, and for his watchful eye while Macy was in our Nation’s Capitol. We are beaming with pride !
