Tara Cornelisse, PhD

Invertebrate Zoologist

Dr. Tara Cornelisse is a highly educated individual with a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Her academic journey also includes a Master of Arts in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz, a Master of Science in Conservation Biology from San Francisco State University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Ecology and Conservation Biology from Boston University.

Dr. Cornelisse has held diverse roles in various prestigious organizations including NatureServe, where she served as an Invertebrate Zoologist, and as an Insect Conservation Consultant for her self-employed venture.

She has also served as the Community Stewardship Manager at LandPaths, Senior Scientist at the Center for Biological Diversity, and Assistant Professor of Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation at Canisius College.

Additionally, she has worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Macaulay Honors College and as a Science Editorial and Postdoctoral Fellow at the American Museum of Natural History.

Dr. Tara Cornelisse has also contributed to the field of academia as an Education Fellow and Scientist in Residence at Santa Cruz Watsonville Inquiry-Based Learning in Environmental Science.

Her teaching experience includes roles as a Discussion Instructor and Teaching Assistant at UC Santa Cruz in courses related to biological consulting, environmental studies, and conservation biology.

Furthermore, she has a background as a Biological Consultant at UC Santa Cruz and has interned at the Bureau of Land Management through the Student Conservation Association.
