Dear LinkedIn connections, When I posted my #opentowork announcement https://lnkd.in/dJh_fNpp I didn’t expect much to come from it. I hoped it might catch some attention, but I never imagined it would be seen by 271,280 people, shared 167 times, and get 161 comments!

The following couple of weeks were incredible. I received numerous interview invitations and heartfelt support from many who wished me well. However, I also encountered the downside of that banner, like lowball salary offers.

Here’s a quick recap of what came from that post (I love stats): -163 people wished me good luck <3 -12 C-level executives wanted to chat about my experience, even without open positions -4 scammers (beware!) -16 interviews -3 mismatches -4 were relocation offers with commission-only pay -5 low-compensation roles -4 ideal roles with great companies that I pursued further

In a twist of fate, as I was still employed and nearing the end of a 6-month notice period (I consider myself fortunate in this regard), my company came back with an unexpected offer. They were restructuring and proposed I take on the role of Head of Hiring Partners. Despite the challenging conditions in the IT field,I felt I hadn’t finished what I started there and saw this as a great new achievement opportunity. Although the general terms are not the same as they were before, I accepted the role after careful consideration.

The four companies I was in discussions with were understanding and supportive. We agreed to stay in touch and keep the lines of communication open in the future.

So here I am, wanting to thank all of you who took the time to read both this and my previous post, and to everyone who reached out to me over the last two months. To those still displaying the #opentowork banner, remember that it's okay to put yourself “out there.” Amazing things happen when you step out of your comfort zone.

I’m excited about this new chapter and the opportunities ahead.
