Candidate in Kingston and the Islands at Ontario Liberal Party

Ted Hsu is the Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Kingston and the Islands and a member of the Ontario Liberal Party (OLP).15 He has been nominated as a candidate for the next provincial election.1 He is the OLP critic for Energy and Natural Resources and Agricultural and Rural Issues.1

Hsu was born on March 4, 1964, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.5 His parents immigrated to Kingston, Ontario, in 1964.13 He grew up in the Calvin Park area and attended St. Thomas More and LCVI.13 Hsu obtained a BSc in physics from Queen’s University and a PhD in physics from Princeton University.2

Before entering provincial politics, Hsu served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kingston and the Islands from 2011 to 2015 as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada.5 In 2022, he was elected as a Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP).1 In 2023, Hsu ran for the leadership of the Ontario Liberal Party.1

Hsu lives in Kingston with his wife and two daughters.13 He is fluent in English, French, and Mandarin.5 Hsu is also a sustainability advocate.4
