Clearly defining Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) in policy discussions — can drastically accelerate deployment and help VPPs reach their full potential. I see three distinct VPP types and propose the following definitions. #VPP #EnergyInnovator #EnergyIndustry #EnergyTransition #SustainableFuture

“Renewable Energy Goals Are Unattainable by 2050,” with one caveat: unless we implement the right government policies soon.

Researchers Kayla Garrett, and Ryan McManamay in a recent study identified key barriers to cities achieving sustainable energy goals, and those barriers can be addressed by better, faster local policy development.

Economics: They cite “installation costs” as a primary barrier - policy reform for interconnection and permitting of DERs is a key solution.

Leadership: They cite “gridlock, mismanaged goal setting and sociopolitical roadblocks at various scales of government” as critical failures in leadership.  Governments need to transform their policy processes to have any chance of reaching their goals.

The way the US has traditionally done policy change doesn’t scale or move fast enough to keep the energy transition on track for our vision for 2050.
