Terry Tamminen

Sustainability Leader, Author, Innovator

Terry Tamminen is a prominent figure in the environmental sector, with over 20 years of experience in advocating for marine conservation, climate change, renewable energy, waste to energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

His illustrious career includes founding the Santa Monica BayKeeper, serving as the Executive Director of the Environment Now Foundation, and co-founding the Frank G. Wells Environmental Law Clinic at UCLA School of Law.

In 2003, Terry played a crucial role in Arnold Schwarzenegger's successful election as Governor of California, where he was appointed as the Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency and later as the Cabinet Secretary, influencing groundbreaking sustainability policies such as the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 and the Million Solar Roofs initiative.

After leaving state government, Terry established the non-profit 7th Generation Advisors, assumed roles at the New America Foundation and Pegasus Capital Advisors, and served as the R20 Founding Chair's Strategic Advisor. He later became the CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation before taking on the role of President/CEO at AltaSea in the Port of Los Angeles, a key player in the Blue Economy.

Terry is also a prolific author, having published four books, and has been widely recognized for his contributions to climate change, receiving accolades such as being named Vanity Fair's Environmental Hero and topping The Guardian's list of 'Top 50 People Who Can Save the Planet'.
