Highlights
I had the privilege of moderating a panel last week in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭 at Industry Immersion Africa (iiAfrica)'s inaugural Industry Engagement Forum. Our panel focused on the role proper talent development 👥 and education 📚 play in enabling digital transformation ✨ in Ghana. The discussion featured the brilliant Lucy Agyepong, Larisa Akrofie, Michael Danquah, Seth Miah, Mike B. Ndimurukundo, who highlighted:
- several impressive and successful education initiatives from Mastercard Foundation and Academic City University College and Andela;
- yet also, the barriers that still face African tech talent today: lack of access to consistent internet, outdated curricula, or amazing technical training but no jobs;
- and the importance of talent investing in "future-proof" skills for AI: statistics, data science, machine learning, but also communication, relationship management, and team building.
