What if I told you that only 1 in 20 of your potential customers was ready to buy AND there was almost NOTHING you could do to make more customers ready to buy?

Professor John Dawes's research concluded that only ~5% of B2B customers are "in-market" at any given moment.

🔍 At any given time, 95% of your potential customers aren't ready to buy... yet.

🏢 For some B2B markets, it could be even more extreme - some companies change service providers only once every five years!

🔄 This shifts our focus from short-term conversions to long-term brand building.

🧠 Advertising works in large part by creating mental availability, not by stimulating immediate purchases.

🎯 Your ads are mostly hitting people who won't buy soon, but are building crucial memory links.

Arbor Growth started as a pure performance marketing agency, but once you've tapped that 5% for your clients, what's next?

We hit the text books, learned and then got to brand building.

Nowadays, after we optimize, iterate and build trust in our client partnerships, we then execute an upper funnel strategy through YouTube, CTV, Linear and other traditional media, while still crushing performance marketing.

You might ask why we don't implement the upper funnel right off the bat? That has less to do with business or marketing reasons and more to do with building trust in our partnership.

The 95-5 Rule reminds us that today's marketing efforts are an investment in future success. What we do is not just about immediate sales, but about creating lasting brand impressions that will influence future purchasing decisions.

Your reminder that advertising can help with a lot of things... but it cannot make up for a lack of product-market fit 😂
