File-sharing phishing attacks increased by over 350% from June 2023 to June 2024 according to Abnormal Security's most recent threat report (link to report below). This level of advanced social engineering is hard to detect because the bad actors are using trusted platforms to share malicious files or e-signing links. I believe we will see more of these in the real estate sector as refinances and purchase volumes increase this fall. As with anything, verify before clicking and opening even if it appears to be coming from a colleague or client.
