Additionally, he has been involved in transition committees for four Seattle and Tacoma mayors and is an alum of Leadership America.
During his tenure as Executive Director of the Washington Bus, Thomas played a pivotal role in transforming the organization from inception to long-term viability. He introduced innovative civic programs, educational initiatives, and leadership development opportunities for the residents of Washington. Furthermore, he founded and spearheaded The Service Board, a non-profit that combines mentoring with snowboarding for teenagers, boasting a network of over 600 alumni. Thomas Goldstein is a recipient of the prestigious Tom Wales Citizenship Award.
Thomas pursued a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Boston University. His professional journey includes roles as a Snowboard Instructor at Crystal Mountain Resort, Principal at Thomas Goldstein Associates, a sabbatical period, and stints as an Executive Director at The Washington Bus and Founder of The Service Board.

The dream of a revitalized Seattle waterfront is quickly taking shape. Books will be written extolling all those (especially the women engineers and project principals) who led the charge. We should be proud of this transformation. As a community we fought and voted to tear down the viaduct, and between 2013 and 2017 spend $410 million to rebuild the Elliott Bay seawall. Then we invested another $467 million to replace the aging and seismically vulnerable ferry facility with the new Seattle Multimodal Terminal at Colman Dock.
There should be lots of parties, dancing, and hoopla to celebrate and support this work – starting with the 2024 PIER PARTY. Think Woodstock by the Water, Jazz Fest on the Bay, Century 21+ Exposition or High Dollar Hijinks at High Tide.

On the second day of my first Bumbershoot (circa 1990s), I ran into Riz Rollins. I had four friends in town, and he was one of them. Which was really the whole Bumbershoot vibe at the time. Back then the festival was everything I loved about Seattle: The blurry boundary between performer and audience, the come-as-you-are ticket prices, the eating of too many fried things, plus a place to sport my new Chubby & Tubby shorts.
When Third Stone and their production partner New Rising Sun successfully relaunched Bumbershoot this summer following a three-year hiatus, I was stoked to see that the old mission was the new mission again, and then some. Hats off to everyone who made that possible. Oh, and it was super fun seeing you there.
