Highlights
This is a post about incredible customer experience.
I live in an area heavily impacted by Hurricane Beryl. We are very lucky to be completely fine and have a whole house generator, so we experienced almost no interruption in our day to day until our electric was restored 7 days later. Tens of thousands are still living in homes without electric and our energy infrastructure provider (which will go unnamed) has been an embarrassment.
You know who hasn't been an embarrassment? Tachus, LLC.
Yes, an internet provider has stunned me into creating a post on LinkedIn.
Yesterday my internet went down, so I walked outside to get signal and see if I could figure out who to call to get some details. But before I could, Tachus texted me letting me know they already detected it and were sending a team to figure out what the issue was.
And then an hour later, they texted me again and gave me detail as to why it happened and the ETA. And the detail wasn't "we're experiencing a network outage". The detail was, hey, a construction crew in the area accidentally cut the line. Give us 3 hours.
My internet was back in just under 3 hours.
To say I was impressed by the experience is a massive understatement. So I emailed the company to give them kudos and say thank you, something we as humans don't do a lot of anymore (but damn if we would take the time to complain every chance we get).
I hit send at 7:54pm. At 8:04pm, I had a voicemail.
How I missed that call is beyond me. But the person in that message was Dennis Castillo saying hey, thank you, we appreciate that you took the time to reach out and show us some positive in all of this mess.
I was floored.
A few minutes later, I also got a message from their support team saying, in part "maintaining a 99% uptime for our network is something we take great pride in".
In all of this, the only thing Tachus got wrong was that I cared about their uptime. Sure, they may have 99% uptime and I'd probably be irritated if they didn't (hard to say since they nail it). But I assume so does Amazon, Google, Facebook, AT&T, and countless other companies that I would not go out of my way to praise. No, for me, it was the communication and the ability for a company to treat a large swath of customers as, well, humans that will keep me as a customer for as long as I live in their service area.
Imagine what could happen if we all strived for great experiences like this, in support, in communications, in marketing, and in business in general. Imagine how cool that would be.
My fintech client is looking for a direct mail manager with 5 years of experience. Preferably in Chicago area, but flexible for the right candidate. DM me if you're in my network (or tangentially in my network) and have questions.
