Have you tried to build a partnership remotely?
It’s possible, but hard as heck!
In my current tour of duty, I’m focused on creating mutually beneficial partnerships. It usually starts like this: -LinkedIn research -LinkedIn message or email -Introduction zoom call - talk about a better together story -NDA in place -Share more details -Possibly do a demo or overview of solutions
If it’s a good fit, then it takes a long time to work through legal, commercial and GTM agreement, etc. It could be months!!
Here’s the challenge - how do you REALLY trust someone? Do you have to meet them IN PERSON to build trust?
I would say, most of the time, YES.
In one real-life example, I worked with a partner for over a year and we both had below-average momentum and results. We had decent collaboration. But it was stop and start, off and on. It wasn’t until we broke bread across from each other that the partnership started to accelerate.
Why? I think it comes down to trust. If you are building a relationship, partnership, or trying to sell something, you gotta have trust! Trust creates connection. 🤝
What do you think?
