Is there a better job for robots than keeping people out of harms way?

At Boston Dynamics, we make robots to enhance the lives of people. We are proud that Spot is being used on a daily basis to do exactly that, by serving as a tool that first responders send in first to access dangerous situations.

ICYMI, Spot was recently used by the Massachussetts State Police Department in an incident where the robot was shot by the suspect. This scenario is exactly why robots can be so useful. Robots don't bleed, they don't have families - thankfully the robot was the only one injured that day, doing its job to let first responders access the scenario from afar.

Some of you may have seen a pack of Spots at the Paris Fashion Week, which was a pretty creative use case.

Although this may be Spot’s first time on the runway, one of the things that I’ve loved about getting over 1000 #robots out into the hands of clients is the creativity in how our clients have “dressed” up their Spot. From intricate wraps and adding their own logos to custom costumes to unique names; it’s been fun to watch how companies are welcoming Spot into their facilities and making it their own. I’ve often said that this is a great way to help create worker acceptance of these new robotic tools.

The other week, someone was surprised to see other colors on Spot because they thought it just came in yellow…

So, HERE IS A CHALLENGE: I’d love to see all the unique ways that our partners and clients have gave their #Spot a little fashion. Post a picture of your Spot robot in the comments section below, tell us it’s unique name that you may have given it and even add a short story of how you use it, if you are inclined.

If you know someone with a great Spot wrap or customized look, feel free to tag them.
