Tim Price is a versatile freelance woodwind and keyboard performer, composer, arranger, and conductor based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He has collaborated with renowned jazz musicians such as James Moody, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Eddie Marshall, among others, showcasing his musical prowess.

Tim's involvement in various ensembles like the Bay Area Jazz Composer's Orchestra and the Dmitry Metheny Jazz Orchestra illustrates his dedication to Third Stream composition and performance.

As a composer, Tim's music for jazz ensemble is published by Otter Distributors/Walrus Music and Union Dues Music Publications, with his compositions and arrangements being performed by groups like the 'Tim Price Jazz Orchestra' and the 'Yes or No' jazz septet in the Bay Area.

His notable works include the 'Sad Planet Suite,' which earned him the Reader's Digest Meet the Composer award in 1989, and his arrangement of Béla Bartók's 'Concerto for Orchestra' for wind ensemble during a sabbatical in 2005.

Tim Price holds a magna cum laude A.B. in Philosophy from Occidental College and a master's degree in Music Theory and Composition with honors from California State University, Fresno, where he later served as a faculty member.

His pursuit of continuous learning led him to study studio orchestration and music technology at institutions like the Eastman School of Music and the University of Northern Colorado.

Retired after an illustrious 33-year tenure teaching music at San Francisco University High School, Tim's high school jazz ensemble achieved significant recognition, including winning 'Best Jazz Ensemble' at the 2003 Reno Jazz Festival and performing at prestigious events like the New York City Jazz Festival at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

Apart from his teaching career, Tim Price also provided instruction in jazz piano and saxophone at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, showcasing his passion for sharing his musical knowledge and skills.

Currently, Tim remains active in his music career, continuing to compose and arrange music on demand, showcasing his enduring dedication to musical creativity and expression.
