Tim Wells

Senior Lecturer in Neuroendocrinology at Cardiff University

Tim Wells is an accomplished international expert specializing in the endocrine and metabolic actions of the stomach hormone, ghrelin.

With a Ph.D. in Neuroendocrinology from University College London and a B.Sc. in Physiology from the University of Leeds, Tim's educational background provides a solid foundation for his research.

Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in Neuroendocrinology at Cardiff University, Tim collaborates extensively with national and international partners to investigate various aspects related to ghrelin, including the metabolic consequences of feeding patterns, effects of feeding patterns and ghrelin infusion on neurone survival, metabolic and skeletal phenotype of Prader-Willi Syndrome, and the role of ghrelin O-acyl transferase (GOAT) in tissue-specific transacylation.

His professional journey includes roles such as Lecturer in Neuroscience, Senior School Research Fellow at Cardiff University, and Research Associate at the National Institute for Medical Research.

Previously, Tim has also carried out research assistant positions at the University of Manchester and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

His expertise and contributions in the field of neuroendocrinology have established him as a prominent figure in exploring the complexities of ghrelin and its impact on various physiological systems.
