Tom Luljak is a seasoned communications professional with a diverse career in broadcasting and higher education. He served as the interim head of Wisconsin Public Radio, appointed to this position in October 2021.46 Prior to this role, Luljak had a long-standing career at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he was the Vice Chancellor for University Relations and Communications for over two decades, retiring in June 2021.37

Luljak's background in broadcasting is extensive. He worked as a news director for WTMJ-AM and WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee, during which time he won a prestigious Peabody Award.6 He also hosted "UWM Today" on WUWM for more than 20 years and was the inaugural host of "Curious Campus".1

His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Radio/TV/Film and Speech Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, which he earned in 1973.24 Throughout his career, Luljak has maintained strong connections with various media outlets and educational institutions in Wisconsin.

As of January 2025, Luljak continues to be active in the Milwaukee community, participating in events such as discussions at the Rotary Club of Milwaukee.5
